I have a data set in .csv format. When i import it into ODV it acts as tho it can not read it. When I am creating the collection I am choosing "use .txt, .odv, .var or other file as template" Is this wrong for the .csv format? What should I choose?
Many thanks!

Hi Brandi,
The easiest way to create a collection out of your csv file would be to simple drag 'n drop it on ODV. If it's structured as an ODV generic spreadsheet file the import should happen fully automatically. If it's not, you will need to provide several information to ODV (see chapter 4.1 "ODV Spreadsheet Files" for more information).
The way you described, to first create a collection from template and then import the data, should work as well. Simply change the template file filter to "All files" and select your csv file. Again, if its structure conforms to the ODV generic spreadsheet format everything will be done automatically.
If you still can't figure out how to import your csv file, please provide more detailed information about what is going wrong.
Cheers, Stephan

I forgot something important:
When you create a new collection via "File->New" and then select "use txt, odv, ... file as template", ODV will only create an empty collection based on the variables found in the file. This doesn't include any data import !
If you want collection creation and data import in one go, do the drag 'n drop as mentioned earlier. If you want two separate steps, create the collection as before and select "Import -> ODV Spreadsheet" from the main menu to import the data.
Cheers, Stephan
