hello, Im creating a collection of my study area -south Portugal- leeward Algarve, and in order to improve my bathimetry, I had include in the directory my own bathimetry in the netCDF format with all the constraints. as well I have red the documentation on this topic by Prof. Schlitzer. I did the elevation profile of the same area in Qgis and Mirone -is a free tool created by a professor from my university-http://w3.ualg.pt/~jluis/mirone/, and the plot look very different form what I expected in ODV, I have data points with measurements in the bottom 100 to 200 meters below the bottom surface! should be similar from the profiles made by other GIS, but is NOT! is not the same tool, why does look so weird in ODV? some one can help? of course, my study area is smaller scale, thats why I need a local bathimetry, but even GEBCO1 or etopo2 are making the same section plot, different from my area my area is top 37.2 bottom 36.5 left - 7.5 right -7 the section should be in between this polygon thank you very much Carlos P.D.> the bathimetry is available at http://w3.ualg.pt/~jluis/mirone/ datalinks its name is algarve50.grd |

Hi Carlos, What exactly is the problem ? Doesn't ODV display the proper bathymetry or is there a problem about displaying your measurements ? Did you use the bathymetry file algrave50.grd directly or did you create an adapted version of it for ODV ? Feel free to send some explanatory material to odv@awi.de (like your data collection and some screenshots). It would help me a lot to better understand what's wrong. Cheers, Stephan [This article was edited 1 times, at last 14.06.2012 at 14:01.] |

Dear all, This issue is solved. The problem was that the custom bathymetry file Carlos used wasn't of the netCDF structure ODV expects. What may be irritating is that ODV will not complain about the file's structure but silently switch back to 'Station bottom depth' as source of bathymetry. There will be no dialog if ODV rejects your bathymetry. So whenever you try the same, check back on the 'Section Properties' dialog whether or not your bathymetry file was accepted. Cheers, Stephan |
